What does Europe look like for LGBTIQ+ rights defenders today? What kind of resistance and support are they experiencing? What needs to be done next?
LGBTIQ+ people are currently facing vocal and active resistance against their rights all over Europe. During the past few years, LGBTIQ+ organizations have reported an increase in acts of hatred against LGBTIQ+ individuals It is also evident that positive legislative development regarding LGBTIQ+ rights is slowing down. Recently, the situation has radically worsened in some countries, even including restrictions of laws and authorities playing an active role in discrimination against LGBTIQ+ persons.
This discussion aims to find out how we should move forward from here. What can local governments, the EU, and each of us do to defend the rights of LGBTIQ+ people?
