DESCRIPTION:Legal Gender Recognition in the Nordic Countries -seminaari kokoaa asiantuntijoita eri Pohjoismaista keskustelemaan transihmisten oikeuksista. Kuulemme niin kokemusasiantuntijoilta\, viranomaisilta kuin tutkijoilta siitä\, millaisia muutoksia on tapahtunut sukupuolen juridista vahvistamista koskevassa lainsäädännössä Norjassa\, Tanskassa ja Ruotsissa. \nPaikalla on myös suomalaisia poliitikkoja\, jotka haastamme toteuttamaan ihmisoikeusperustaisen lainsäädännön kokonaismuutoksen myös Suomessa. \nIlmoittautua kannattaa heti\, sillä tila on rajallinen (ja esteetön). Saarikko will replace Rehula as Minister of FASS in July. \n13:15 Introduction of different legislative approaches of LGR in the Nordic Countries\n• Sweden: Presenter Ulrika Westerlund. The Government of Sweden has initiated an inquiry for strengthening life terms and improving life conditions for trans and intersex people in 2016. The inquiry chair appointed by the Government to lead the investigation is Ulrika Westerlund. Westerlund has worked extensively with LGBT rights in various positions and in different organizations.\n• Norway: Presenters Jeanette John Solstad Remø and Arild J. Myrberg (TBC). Remø is a prominent trans*rights activist in Norway\, a former submarine commander\, a leading campaigner in process that resulted in a comprehensive legal reform in Norway. She is member of Norwegian Human Rights Alliance and Norwegian Association for Transgender people (FTP-N). Arild J. Myrberg is working as Senior Adviser at the Norwegian Directorate of Health. Myrberg has been in different advisory positions for the Norwegian Government in relation to legal gender recognition.\n• Denmark: Presenter Helle Jacobsen. Helle Jacobsen has worked with LGBTI rights for the last 10 years. She has been leading both Danish and international projects for example in the Baltic countries and in Uganda. And is currently the program manager on Gender\, women and LGBTI rights for Amnesty Denmark. She has contributed as a researcher for the international report: “The state decides who I am” on legal gender recognition in Europe\, the Danish briefing on transpeoples access to health and the international report on non-emergency operations om intersex children: Europe: First\, do no harm: Ensuring the rights of children with variations of sex characteristics in Denmark and Germany (AI\, May 2017).\n• Finland: Pia Puu Oksanen and Terhi Aaltonen. Oksanen is working as an advisor at Amnesty International Finnish Section. Aaltonen is acting secretary general at SETA – LGBTI rights in Finland. \n14:15 Questions\, discussion. \n14:30 Panel. \nFirst three individuals who have trans* background discuss about the effects of legal gender recognition in their life. Panda Eriksson (Chair\, Trasek – Finnish Association for trans- and intersex rights)\, Sakris Kupila (transactivist\, and Amnesty’s BRAVE-campaign individual) and Jeanette John Solstad Remø. \nAfter their reflections Finnish MP’s are invited to join. Panelists: Eva Biaudet (SFP)\, Antton Rönholm (SDP)\, Olli-Poika Parviainen (GP)\, Silvia Modig (LA)\, Annika Saarikko (Center)\, Sari Raassina (Coalition). \n15:15 Closing remarks by Richard Köhler\, Transgender Europe\, Senior Policy Officer \n15:30 The seminar ends. \nAfter the event audience is welcome to join a get-together of Nordic transactivists at the Nordic Point Library until 17:00.
